It's the height of summer in the Netherlands, a perfect time for a memorable beach story about granules and coating to dream away.
In our studio, we work daily with different colors, textures, and materials to create our unique menus for restaurants and bars worldwide. We do this with craftsmanship and attention to detail. Each color in our range has its own story, but few colors are as uniquely crafted as "beach sand."
Coastal grains from the Middle East
One of our clients, a hotel restaurant in Dubai, had a clear request: to have the menu blend seamlessly with the beach setting. Not just "roughly" the same color, not based on color swatches or pre-selected color codes. No; the idea was for guests to have the real beach in their hands when choosing their cocktail. For a complete experience, executed down to the last detail.
One day, a small bag of sand from Dubai landed in our mailbox in Brabant. Real coastal sand, straight from the Middle East.
Fifty shades of sand
With this Persian sand, we then embarked on an adventurous color development process. Each color in our range is carefully selected, tested, and tailored to the needs of both the customer and the material, but the color of beach sand is a particularly special example. You don't think about it every day, but sand has so many different color accents. Not all sand is the same.
Color research : To accurately map the nuances, we examined the sand in different light conditions. We examined the hue, undertone, and texture.
Color testing : Based on our analysis, we experimented in small batches, with minimal variations in the color coatings each time.
Color consultation : We sent several samples back for feedback. The client ultimately chose a blend that perfectly captured the ambiance of his beach.
100% custom-made
This is how our "beach sand" color variant came into being: a natural, soft color with a calming appearance. Ten years later, it's become a permanent color in our range. It's in high demand for several of our products, including menus and bill folders .
